PENGARUH DIET RENDAH INDEK GLIKEMIK TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR AGEs PADA TIKUS MODEL DIABETES MELITUS

Abstract

Hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus sufferers can trigger reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Advanced Glcation End Products (AGEs). A low glycemic index diet is recommended for diabetes mellitus sufferers because it can prevent increases in blood sugar levels and improve the reproductive system in women of childbearing age. The aim of the research is to combine a low glycemic diet in a mouse model of diabetes mellitus. Until now there has not been much explanation in this research. This research uses a posttest only design with a control group design. The research was carried out at the Veterinary Laboratory of Airlangga University in August 2024. The number of sample units using 32 female Rattus norvegicus (white rats) experimental animals consisted of negative control group, positive control group, treatment group 1 and treatment group 2. Product manufacture low glycemic index diet with different composition to be given to the treatment group. Making food with a low glycemic index with a ratio of ingredient composition to be given to treatment group 1 (P1), namely 30% corn flour; 30% duck egg white; 30% duck egg yolk and treatment 2 (P2), namely 50% corn flour; 30% duck egg white; 20% duck egg yolk.. Data analysis used to determine the effect of a low glycemic index diet on AGEs, namely using One Way Annova followed by the Post hoc LSD test. The results of the analysis showed that there was an influence of a low glycemic index diet on AGEs (p value: 0.041). A low glycemic index diet can improve inflammatory pathways by inhibiting the formation of AGEs and can be possible as a therapeutic modality to reduce glucose levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers.
