Abstract

Fatigue is one of the most common side effects experienced by breast cancer patients and has a significant impact on their quality of life. This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of yoga in reducing fatigue levels in breast cancer patients. This study was conducted using a systematic review method, through a literature search in several databases including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Sage, ScienceDirect and Taylor and Francis with the keywords: "yoga" OR "yogic" AND "fatigue" OR "cancer-relatef fatigue" OR "tiredness" AND "breast cancer" OR "carcinoma mammae". Nine articles that met the inclusion criteria were then analyzed. The results of the study showed that yoga was generally effective in reducing fatigue in breast cancer patients, especially those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Yoga intervention showed a significant decrease in fatigue levels after 12 weeks, especially when done regularly for a long enough duration. In addition, several types of yoga such as pranayama and a combination of yoga with aerobic exercise also gave positive results in reducing fatigue. Furthermore, it was concluded that yoga has been proven to be a useful complementary intervention in reducing fatigue in breast cancer patients, especially during treatment. Its effectiveness is more visible in interventions with optimal duration and frequency.

OR “yogic” AND “fatigue” OR “cancer-relatef fatigue” OR “tiredness” AND “breast cancer” OR “carcinoma mammae”.
